CME Shine started as one person with a passion for doing detailing the right way, and it has grown into a full surface-solutions company serving Cedar Rapids and Eastern Iowa. Today, CME Shine Industries spans three divisions: high-end automotive detailing and ceramic coatings, industrial surface protection, and professional distribution of Car Candy products. From a Passion for Detailing to CME Shine Industries

What began in the shop as careful, no-shortcuts detailing turned into something bigger as clients asked for more. Paint correction and ceramic coatings led to industrial coatings for equipment and hard surfaces, and the professional products we trusted in our own work led to becoming an authorized Car Candy distributor. The name evolved to CME Shine Industries to reflect that growth, but the standard is the same one we started with: precision, process, and results.

Chad Emerson

Co-owner, IDA CD-SV, Recognized Industry Trainer

CME Shine Industries is led by Chad Emerson, an International Detailing Association Certified Detailer with Skills Validated (CD-SV) and a Recognized Industry Trainer (RIT). Chad built the business on a simple belief: every vehicle and every surface deserves the job done right, with the same pride and precision he brings to everything he takes on. He handles the day-to-day detailing, and he is quick to credit the family and friends whose support has been at the heart of CME Shine from the start.

Tara Kahler

Co-owner, Office and Business Operations, IDA CD-SV

CME Shine is co-owned by Tara Kahler, who runs the office and business side of the company. Tara holds her own IDA Certified Detailer, Skills Validated (CD-SV) credential. She earned it on purpose: as a detailing business owner, she felt it was important to understand firsthand the proper techniques, chemicals, and tools that quality detailing requires, even though she does not detail full time. Between Chad on the floor and Tara in the office, every customer gets work and service held to the same standard.

Skill in this work comes from real, in-person training, not internet tutorials. Chad's craft is backed by extensive hands-on education, coaching, and mentorship from respected professionals in the detailing world, including Josh Pierce, Dan Tyger, Jason Kilmer, Jonathan Monson, Mark Barger, Mel Craig. That mentorship is why CME Shine can bring proven methods and professional-grade products to every job, the kind of process and product access that most shops simply do not have.

How We Work

We do not chase volume. CME Shine is a shop-based studio that works by appointment, so every vehicle and every project gets uninterrupted attention in a controlled environment. That setup is not just a preference. It is how coatings get the clean, climate-stable conditions they need to bond and cure correctly. The rule across all three divisions is the same: preparation is everything, and there are no shortcuts and no guesswork.
